The wars have passed. Colour returns. So does hope. Where the wars destroyed all aspects of aesthetics and beauty, the 50s made sure for their return. Practicality was so important – ‘A cold beer, anyone?’ – yet it was also the birth of new-found freedom of choice, freedom of elegance that moved the people away from hurt and into love.
